Partnership establishment and development

More organisations are working together in partnerships; to tackle complex problems, share resources or draw on differing expertise. When organisations choose to work together towards common aims, it is important that all parties share the same vision and understanding from the outset. Building trust and getting things right can be challenging. This is where Joanna can help. She has extensive experience of working in, and with, partnerships. She believes strongly in the synergy of drawing on diverse skills and experiences to tackle complex problems shared by public and not-for-profit organisations.

Her skills in clarifying shared objectives, gaining and sustaining the commitment of all parties and resolving any disputes, enable multi-agency partnerships to operate effectively. This ability to set the framework for successful partnership projects is based on her:
• sector experience and understanding of the operating environment
• knowledge of how to harness conflict constructively
• hands-on experience of working with housing, social services and health colleagues in developing successful care in the community projects
• experience and credibility, enabling her to work at senior staff and board level
• record in gaining the confidence of all parties, including staff, board, regulators and inspectors
• ability to tailor services to your specific needs and budgets

Partnership projects include:
• supporting the set up and review of the ‘One Teams’, multi-disciplinary partnership including police officers, social workers and housing staff working in deprived communities in Somerset
• creating a receptive environment for Bristol City Council to discuss closer working arrangements with major local housing associations
• facilitating the establishment of two community area partnerships as the foundation of new governance arrangements for Wiltshire Council
• undertaking a strategic review of Taunton Deane’s partnership with Tone Leisure, its local leisure trust
• project managing the transfer of Torbay Council’s housing stock to housing association responsibility
• organising staff and management away days for Local Strategic Partnerships in Exeter and Taunton Deane
• designing and organising a housing strategy conference for Torbay Council
• training staff from voluntary organisations to work in partnership initiatives

I’ve engaged Joanna on a number of occasions particularly for facilitating and developing challenging multi-agency partnership arrangements. She has approached this work in an open and engaging manner, winning the trust and participation of her audience whilst steadily moving participants toward clearly defined goals. She approaches facilitation in a calm, unruffled manner and has a way of building trust and collaboration even when addressing difficult issues – she has certainly helped us develop stronger relations for partnership working which have led us onto bigger and better things.
